BEEF

Most of our farm fresh beef is raised right from birth at West Blue Farm. For the first 1 1/2 years, the calves will be raised on grass, alfalfa hay and crop residue.  The beef are finished on alfalfa hay and non-GMO corn. No low level antibiotics or growth hormones are used.

This year the beef will be processed at Troyer Meat Locker in Milford. During this process, you can expect us to contact you with the hanging weight price and Troyer Meat Locker will contact you to find out how you would like it cut (see below for cutting instructions). Wholes, halves, or split halves are available. A split half gives you a quarter of beef with a full range of cuts from both the front and hind quarter.

The cost is $3.40 per pound hanging weight plus processing (see chart below for estimated weights and costs).  To secure your beef order, a deposit is required before we take them to the locker. For a whole beef the deposit is $1000, a half is $500 and a quarter is $250.  Once we receive the hanging weights, your invoice will reflect your beef total with the deposit being paid.

Orders can be placed in any month. We will be processing beef in March, June, September and December this year.  Please keep in mind that it works best to order your beef 4 months in advance so that we can be sure to meet your needs.

At times, some of the finished beef is over 30 months of age. The USDA does not allow the final cuts of beef (over 30 months) to contain any of the spinal cord. If this is the case, T-bone steaks will not be available so you will get Filets and New York Strip steaks.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

GROUND BEEF

We also offer high quality, lean ground beef. Our ground beef is made from the entire beef and not from old cull cows, which means that you’re getting the best beef you could buy!

Ground beef is available all year long! Give us a call and we would love to help you out.

You can purchase ground beef in frozen 1 pound packages for $6.60 per pound. To order ground beef, include the date and the number of pounds you’d like on the order form. Ground beef can be picked up at a chicken delivery location or at the farm.
